Obwohl zahlreiche Studien bereits interessensförderliche Effekte der Kontextorientierung nachweisen konnten, ist bisher nicht geklärt, durch welche konkreten Kontext- und Aufgabenmerkmale diese hervorgerufen werden. Darüber hinaus deuten die eher ambivalenten Ergebnisse bezüglich der Lernleistung von Schülerinnen und Schülern auf eine differentielle Wirkung unterschiedlich kontextualisierter Aufgaben hin. Im Rahmen dieser Studie werden daher relevante Variablen kontextualisierter Lernaufgaben systematisch variiert, um deren Einfluss auf affektive und kognitive Schülervariablen zu untersuchen. Auf Grundlage der unabhängigen Variablen Kontextmerkmal, Fachinhalt und Problemorientierung wurden experimentbasierte Lernaufgaben entwickelt, die innerhalb eines prä-post Designs eingesetzt und evaluiert wurden. Die Ergebnisse der Studie legen nahe, dass die Wirkung von kontextualisierten Lernaufgaben auf das situationale Interesse von Schülerinnen und Schülern vom Kontextmerkmal abhängt, diese Wirkung jedoch durch die Ausprägung von individuellen Fach- und Sachinteressen moderiert wird. Darüber hinaus werden höhere Lernleistungen erzielt, wenn innerhalb von problemorientierten Kontextaufgaben gelernt wird und die kognitive Belastung nicht zu hoch ausfällt.
