Ten years from today, the center of our digital lives will no longer be the smart phone, but device that looks like ordinary eyeglasses: except those glasses will have settings for Virtual and Augmented Reality. What you really see and what is computer generated will be mixed so tightly together, that we won't really be able to tell what is real and what is illusion.Instead of touching and sliding on a mobile phone, we will make things happen by moving our eyes or by brainwaves. When we talk with someone or play an online game, we will see that person in the same room with us. We will be able to touch and feel her or him through haptic technology. We won't need to search online with words, because there will be a new Visual Web 100 times larger than the current Internet, and we will find things by images, buy things by brands, or just by looking at a logo on the jacket of a passerby. Language will be irrelevant, and a merchant in a developing world will have access to global markets.Medical devices will cure schizophrenia, allow quadriplegics to walk. People will be able to touch and feel objects and other people who are not actually there for conversations, games and perhaps intimate experiences. From Kindergarten to on-the-job, learning will become experiential. Children will visit great battlefields and tour historic places in VR rather than read about them in text books. Med students and surgeons will learn and practice on virtual humans rather than cadavers; oil rig workers will understand how to handle emergencies, before the ever leave the home office. The Fourth Transformation is based on two years of research and about 400 interviews with technologists and business decision makers. It explains the technology and product landscape on a level designed to be interesting and useful to business thinkers and general audiences. Mostly it talks about how VR and AR are already being used, or will be used in the next one-to-three years. It explains how this massive and fundamental transformation will be driven, nit just by Millennials, but by the generation following them, which the authors have named the Minecraft Generation.Robert Scoble and Shel Israel have written this book in the hope that it will serve as a business thinker's guidebook to the near-term future. They hope readers will walk away understanding the massive changes rapidly arising, so that they will navigate a successful course through the changes they will be facing sooner than they-or their competitors-- may realize just yet.

The only guide devoted exclusively to social media metrics Whether you are selling online, through a direct sales force, or via distribution channels, what customers are saying about you online is now more important than your advertising. Social media is no longer a curiosity on the horizon but a significant part of your marketing mix. While other books explain why social media is critical and how to go about participating, Social Media Metrics focuses on measuring the success of your social media marketing efforts. Success metrics in business are based on business goals where fame does not always equate to fortune. Read this book to determine: Why striving for more Twitter followers or Facebook friends than the competition is a failing strategy How to leverage the time and effort you invest in social media How to convince those who are afraid of new things that social media is a valuable business tool and not just a toy for the overly-wired Knowing what works and what doesn't is terrific, but only in a constant and unchanging world. Social Media Metrics is loaded with specific examples of specific metrics you can use to guide your social media marketing efforts as new means of communication.

The aim of this book is to provide practical advice and awareness of health management and disease control in sea bass and sea bream, the most widely-farmed fish in the Mediterranean region. The prevention and control of the main pathologies affecting intensively-cultured marine fish species are of paramount importance. Farmed sea bass and sea bream are high-value fish, making significant contributions to the economies of many countries. This important book gives particular emphasis to rapid diagnosis and response to the most dangerous pathologies, which can cause severe economic losses in affected fish farms. Key features of the book Sea Bass and Sea Bream include: A clear layout and practical approach: easy to understand and implement; colour photographs of the main diseases and parasites affecting sea bass and sea bream; a combination of the authors' wide field-based experience in the diagnosis of fish diseases, with knowledge from a major fish diseases reference laboratory. This book is an essential purchase for fish farm operatives and managers, veterinarians, fish health managers and inspectors, consultants, fish pathologists, microbiologists and parasitologists. Friendly Fire investigates the intrigue and treachery between—and within—the nations that were ostensibly allies during the Second World War. It asserts that the Allied war effort was more concerned with the balance of power in the postwar world than with the defeat of Germany and Japan. These machinations allegedly prolonged the duration of the war by as much as two years. Based on extensive research, this study contains information obtained from key archives as well as the testimonies of those individuals actively involved in the events. The result is a provocative re-evaluation of Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin, and the real agenda behind the formation of the postwar world—and the consequences for us all.
