This carefully crafted ebook: “British Mysteries Collection: 14 Novels & 70+ Short Stories (Challenge, The Island of Terror, The Female of the Species, The Horror At Staveley Grange, Bulldog Drummond, Out of the Blue and more)” is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. Herman Cyril McNeile (1888-1937) commonly known as H. C. McNeile or Sapper, was a British soldier and author. Drawing on his experiences in the trenches during the First World War, he started writing short stories and getting them published in the Daily Mail. After the war McNeile left the army and continued writing, although he changed from war stories to thrillers. In 1920 he published Bulldog Drummond, whose eponymous hero became his best-known creation. The character was based on McNeile himself, on his friend Gerard Fairlie and on English gentlemen generally. Drummond is a First World War veteran, brutalised by his experiences in the trenches and bored with his post-war lifestyle. He publishes an advertisement looking for adventure, and soon finds himself embroiled in a series of exploits, many of which involve Carl Peterson—who becomes his nemesis—and Peterson's mistress, the femme fatale Irma. McNeile interspersed his Drummond work with other detective novels and story collections that included two characters who appeared as protagonists in their own works, Jim Maitland and Ronald Standish. H. C. McNeile thrillers are a continuation of his war stories, with upper class Englishmen defending England from foreigners plotting against it. Content: Jim Maitland The Island of Terror Bulldog Drummond The Black Gang The Third Round The Final Count The Female of the Species Temple Tower The Return of Bulldog Drummond Knock-Out Bulldog Drummond at Bay Challenge The Horror At Staveley Grange Tiny Carteret Ronald Standish Men, Women and Guns The Saving Clause Out of the Blue The Finger of Fate

This book is a collection of short stories designed to be used for reading practice and entertainment for home and classroom readers. It consists of 50 mostly fictional stories in several different interest areas. The areas include adults, boys and girls, animals, strange happenings, directions, lifelike objects, humor, and others. Many of these stories contain an introduction of factual information followed by a fictional story. In selected stories, there is another story following it that is related to it in some way. I have been associated with education most of my life, from being a teacher, a counselor, and a sales representative for a company whose main business was selling to the education market. Then for many years that followed, I have worked as a developer of educational software in reading, writing, and math. My favorite part of developing was always the creation of new stories, and that is why I decided to put this new book together.

"Dictionary Stories isn’t just a book for word nerds, but for anyone for whom language and story matter. Everybody will find themselves thoroughly in love with this book." —Kory Stamper, editor for Merriam-Webster, and author of Word by Word Jez Burrows opened the New Oxford American Dictionary and sat, mystified. Instead of the definition of "study" he was looking for, he found himself drawn to the strangely conspicuous, curiously melodramatic sentence that followed it: "He perched on the edge of the bed, a study in confusion and misery." It read like a tiny piece of fiction on the lam and hiding out in the dictionary—and it wasn’t alone. Was it possible to reunite these fugitive fictions? To combine and remix example sentences to form new works? With this spark and a handful of stories shared online, Dictionary Stories was born. This genre-bending and wildly inventive collection glows with humor, emotion, and intellect. Effortlessly transcending sentence level, Burrows lights between the profound and the absurd, transporting readers into moments, worlds, and experiences of remarkable variety. Featuring original illustrations by the author, Dictionary Stories is a giddy celebration of the beauty and flexibility of language.

Auctoritee is a collection of short stories that all explore love. Readers typically read about love in a way that results in a happy ending. Sadly, this is not always the case. In this collection, each story explores a different aspect of love, none of which end with "happily ever after". Follow each character as they discover the reality of what love really is and what it can entail.

YOU ARE THE FIRST GENERATION RAISED WITHOUT RELIGION What happens if we are raised without religion or beliefs? As we grow older, the beauty and disenchantments of the world temper our souls. We all have spiritual impulses, yet where do these impulses flow in a world of commodities and consumerism? LIFE AFTER GOD is a compellingly innovative collection of stories responding to these themes. Douglas Coupland takes us into worlds we know exist but rarely see, finding rare grace amid our pre-millennium turmoil.
