Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Die langfristige Bindung von Kunden an ein Unternehmen avanciert im Kontext einer dynamischen Aufgabenumwelt zunehmend zum kritischen Erfolgsfaktor. Verhaltensmuster der marktorientierten Unternehmensführung mit einem primär auf die Gewinnung neuer Kunden ausgerichteten Marketing-Mix werden vielfach als nicht mehr zielführend identifiziert und verstärkt durch eine ganzheitliche und prozessuale Perspektive abgelöst. Als zentraler Nutzentreiber wird vermehrt die Qualität der Beziehung zu den Kunden erkannt, die es entsprechend zu optimieren gilt. Diskutiert wird diese Perspektive insbesondere unter dem Begriff Relationship Marketing. Dieser wurde von Berry im Kontext des Dienstleistungsmarketing eingeführt und als attracting, maintaining and in multi-service organizations enhancing customer relationships definiert. Der prozessuale Charakter ist auch allen späteren Definitionsversuchen zum Relationship Marketing inhärent, wobei als zentrale Zielsetzung eines zunehmenden Denkens in Kundenbeziehungen die KB identifiziert wird. Das Kundenbindungsmanagement kann in diesem Zusammenhang als ein Teilaspekt dieses umfassenden Ansatzes gesehen werden. Erfährt diese Thematik in der Wissenschaft allgemein eine verstärkte Diskussion, so kann sie für die Sportökonomie als weitgehend unerforschtes Feld deklariert werden. Im Zuge einer zunehmenden Kommerzialisierung und Professionalisierung des Sports ist allerdings ein gezielter Wissenstransfer betriebswirtschaftlicher Erkenntnisse anzustreben. Hierin konstituieren sich der grundlegende Rahmen und das Forschungsinteresse der vorliegenden Arbeit. Der Fußball bildet in Europa und Deutschland, sowohl aktiv betrieben, als aus Zuschauersicht, den Mittelpunkt des Sportinteresses. Die in der abgelaufenen Bundesligasaison 2003/2004 erzielte Rekordzuschauerzahl von 11.469.167 Mio. verdeutlicht dabei nachhaltig das weiterhin steigende Interesse an professionellem Fußball in Deutschland und seine Stellung als signifikanter Bereich der Unterhaltungsindustrie. Die ökonomische Relevanz des Untersuchungsobjektes belegen z.B. Zahlen, nach denen sich der Umsatz der Vereine zwischen 1989/1990 und 2000/2001 von durchschnittlich 20,09 Mio. DM auf 95 Mio. DM erhöht und damit nahezu verfünffacht hat. Gegenwärtig befindet sich die Fußball-Bundesliga allerdings in der größten Finanzkrise seit ihrer Gründung im Jahre 1963.
