"If you have the privilege, you already have the right to peruse Aileen Muhammad's collection of work from 2009 to present. I have. You had been whisked away at the very first word of every piece she has written. Aileen will unleash your spirit and take you somewhere. And everyone of her riveting, healing, love pods, take you by the hand, walks you across the street to Karma, then, hurl you through non-stop imagery, imaginings, soul deep steep vision parables that make it exciting to you 'see' for your Self what you have read. Sustained takes every line of verse and weaves them seamlessly with Bai's (Carl Karni-Bain)consuming paintings that tour Persona, the soul of persona. Sustained places every verse and image on the tip of your tongue. Yes, Sustained speaks from you, through you, to where you must go. Aileen's, Sustained, incurs nature, stretches longing to the nth degree. Both holy and sacred, Aileen defines the microcosmic juncture of the two, a formula for transcendence. Sustained traverses every revered poetic structure with a very delightful page of Haiku Feathers that manipulates the sparkle in your eye. But, oh my, the signature structural fierceness of Sustained Aileen Muhammad is a fearless language soloist. Sustained is a School of Thought entry to the annals." Nathan Ross Freeman

This book investigates the impact of noise upon the emergence and sustenance of patterns. OC PatternsOCO loosely refers to coherent spatial structures, including fronts, as well as temporal patterns. The crucial role of nonlinearities is highlighted and expanded upon in the context of dynamical system frameworks. The author''s familiarity with chaos theory, statistical physics and nonlinear science is reflected in the highly interdisciplinary character of the text. Model equations and experiments taken from fluid dynamics, semiconductor devices, biophysics and statistical mechanics complement theoretical concepts. It should be of great value to researchers and graduate students who desire a quick introduction to the subject. Excursions into emerging fields such as traffic flow simulations and game theory serve to broaden the scope and to encourage the exploration of sundry topics. Contents: Introduction; Essentials; Noise Induced Temporal Phenomena; Adding Spatial Dimensions; Stochastic Transport Phenomena; Sundry Topics; Afterthoughts. Readership: Graduate students and researchers in nonlinear science, chaos and statistical physics."

The participants in the Dartmouth Conference-so named because the first meeting took place at Dartmouth College in 1960-didn't just open up a new level of East-West understanding, they also pioneered a new kind of dialogue between adversaries. They were not government officials, yet their aim was somehow to narrow the divide between the Soviet and American governments-and indeed their peoples. Over the course of more than 40 years, as relationships warmed and trust developed, their dialogue deepened and widened. The ideas and information exchanged between them filtered into public discourse and were channeled into policymaking circles on both sides of the Iron Curtain. The impact of the Dartmouth Conference can never be measured precisely, but it was substantial. As James Voorhees demonstrates, the concept of the multilevel peace process, and especially the idea of sustained dialogue between influential but unofficial members of seemingly implacable groups, evolved as the Dartmouth process evolved. Unfettered by the constraints on official diplomats, the participants could speak with a rare degree of candor and freedom on a wide range of subjects, sustaining their conversation from one meeting to the next and building a foundation of shared knowledge. As Harold Saunders and Vitaly Zhurkin explain in a concluding chapter, the lessons learned and techniques developed at Dartmouth are being applied today in numerous settings.Drawing on extensive research and interviews, this highly readable account of the evolution of a unique peacemaking venture adds a new perspective on both the Cold War and the conduct of multilevel peace processes.
