In Violin Fingerboard Geography, Volume 1, "Finger Marches" establish the 1st finger "home base" note on all four strings. Finger Pattern Exercises -- 12 color-coded patterns -- develop quick, precise action in the left hand without the need for fingerboard tapes. Fingerboard Geography Exercises teach note names, distances and intervals for all the notes in 1st position. No Fear Shifting has students sailing effortlessly all the way to 8th position on their first day of shifting. Violin Fingerboard Geography, Volume 1, concludes with dozens of Practice Suggestions for pieces in the Suzuki® Violin School, Volumes 1-4, but can be used as a daily warm-up routine and complements perfectly any beginning violin method. The book includes 4 pull-out color-coded Finger Pattern charts.

Known principally as the father of the famous Mozart, Leopold Mozart was a distinguished musician and tutor in his own right. Though he wrote little for his own instrument, he did write the Violonschule in 1756, a work revised several time in Mozart's lifetime. It was still being published as late as 1817. This treatise followed the Italian school, and Tartani in particular, though the historical chapters are much broader in scope. Its greatest claim to fame, though, is that it provides a window into the early instruction of Leopold's famous son, Wolfgang Amadeus.

Shinichi Suzuki has been described as a humanitarian as well as an educator and musician. While a young man, he observed that children absorbed their spoken language based on their environment. This led him to adapt his teaching of music to the same method, that which is called the Mother Tongue Approach. Through listening to the sound of music, very young children soon imitate the tones they hear. Suzuki believes that talent is not inherited, but is a product of environment, and that every child can perform music just as he has learned to speak, if the proper teaching approach is used. Revised in 1995, The Man and His Philosophy contains many new photos, some of them depicting the many "firsts" in the Suzuki world, such as Dr. Suzuki with his first students, plus much more. This is a complete history of the Suzuki movement, in words and pictures, from its beginnings to the present day.
