In this distinctive memoir, Joyce Wang tells the story of her life through 100 milestones. Each milestone is described in English and Chinese text and accompanied by her own paintings. Her story includes studying architectural engineering in China in the early 1950s, coming to the United States for graduate study, and raising three children while pursuing her doctoral degree at RPI and working as the principal planner in the capital district of New York State. The powerful theme underpinning Wang’s story is her partnership with husband and best friend Leon Wang who made this journey with her for over half a century until his death in 2006. One recurring image of their strong connection is the letters they exchanged during their times apart. The Life Journey of an MIT Family is an unassuming self-portrait by a remarkable woman; it is also her moving love letter to her family.

This book of poems and stories is a collection written by three women of one family. It was put together to honor of our belated but loved mother. When my son was young and started writing poetry, Mom said that one day she’d write too so we could do a book together since three was a holy number. She left her writings, my son stopped writing, but my sister stepped in so Mom’s dream could be realized. This is a book written by three. We pray those who read this book remember you’re never alone because God loves you in spite of yourself.

The Russian revolution in 1917 and ensuing civil war caused a massive exodus of upper class, intelligentsia, and military families from Russia. The author's parents were part of that exodus, having stayed on until the very end of the Russian Civil War during which the author's father, Major General Paul Petroff, played an important role in the struggle against the Bolsheviks. They lived in northern China, Shanghai, Japan, and, after years of wandering, arrived in California where they became U.S. citizens and part of the American establishment. As you leaf through the memoir, you will find that the family witnessed the War of the Chinese Warlords, the militarization of Japan where the author's father had a law suit against the government for the recovery of gold bullion deposited by him for safekeeping with the Japanese Military Mission in 1920, the air raids over Tokyo, post-war American politics, the Cold War, the difficult years of the Vietnam War debate, and the Iraq War. Carefully documented from family archival materials, the memoir is a richly woven account of an odyssey that spanned eighty-five years of the author's life, from Harbin, China to the San Francisco Bay Area in California.

DNA testing led to information showing where my ancestors traveled and lived over an approximate 50,000 years. This journey began in Eastern central Africa and ended with my ancestors moving to America in 1717. The history of the locations where my DNA type was found led me to realize how much of the world's history was developing where they traveled and lived. Their journey took them from Africa to Anatolia, the Fertile Crescent area (Bible Lands) and across the Alps into Switzerland where they began using the surname Knusli. In Switzerland, they joined the Mennonite Religion and suffered religious persecution and were forced to move to Alsace on the Rhine River. In 1717, they made the journey to America and settled near Lancaster, PA. The Knusli surname has changed many times over the years including Nicely, Knisely, Kneisly, Knisley, and others. DNA testing has linked these and many other spellings to the Knusli family line. This book is the result of 15 years of family research.

This book explores the life and ministry of John Wesley from the perspective of Murray Bowen's Extended Family Systems Theory and to a lesser extent from Alfred Adler's concept of family constellation. Throughout the book, the author uses concepts drawn from these theories to explore significant historical and pivotal events in the life of John Wesley. Beginning with family events prior to his birth, the author also explores his early family constellation, influential themes, factors shaping his ministry, and various relational issues, including his relationships with Sophy Hopkey, Grace Murray, and his marriage to Mary Vazeille. It concludes by drawing lessons from Wesley's life pertinent to today's ministers.
