Evan Archer has always preferred peace and solitude to the loud antics of his large, hard-to-navigate family. But when Archer Enterprises needs a new creative director, Evan jumps at the chance to claim the job he’s always wanted. Moving home is easier than he expected, but Evan isn’t prepared for the stunning A-list celebrity hiding out in his family’s garage apartment. Following a major tabloid scandal, movie star Alaina Pierce escapes to Ribbon Ridge. She’s immediately drawn to the quiet, picturesque town and the incredibly sexy—if a little quirky—Evan. He may be built like a Greek god, but he’s honest and straightforward… so different from the Hollywood types she normally dates. Their attraction is undeniable, but Alaina can’t elude the paparazzi forever, and Evan has no interest in being in the limelight. When the secret she’s been keeping is exposed, the idea of Evan—of real love and a family like the Archers—could vanish in an instant.

After conquering Atlanta in the summer of 1864 and occupying it for two months, Union forces laid waste to the city in November. William T. Sherman's invasion was a pivotal moment in the history of the South and Atlanta's rebuilding over the following fifty years came to represent the contested meaning of the Civil War itself. The war's aftermath brought contentious transition from Old South to New for whites and African Americans alike. Historian William Link argues that this struggle defined the broader meaning of the Civil War in the modern South, with no place embodying the region's past and future more clearly than Atlanta. Link frames the city as both exceptional--because of the incredible impact of the war there and the city's phoenix-like postwar rise--and as a model for other southern cities. He shows how, in spite of the violent reimposition of white supremacy, freedpeople in Atlanta built a cultural, economic, and political center that helped to define black America.

As a veteran of the financial services industry, I realize the importance of the position I have been placed in to help others. As our industry has evolved, we have taken on a greater responsibility to make sure we do right by others through adherence to ethics and acquiring as much education as we possibly can. After being in the business for over twenty-five years, I've come to really appreciate what we do and how we do it to the point where I am now mentoring others in our business. The key word that I stress to all in our mentor program is "lifetime" because it gives peace of mind to seniors who fear outliving their money. I love the television commercial with the college professor who is conducting a study for the Prudential Life Insurance Company, asking people who the oldest person is that they know. I also enjoy the ad that has people pulling a blue ribbon until their money runs out (usually before they expect). And the woman looks up and says "I better rethink this thing." Those commercials portray exactly what our clients fear most--running out of money.
